The original and perfect plan of God for man was to keep him in a place of comfort. A life without pains, without death and destruction. And indeed, that was exactly what God intended.
Before God formed man, He had already planted a beautiful and well-nourished garden for him. This garden was created solely by God for the overall well-being of man. It was a place free from suffering, where everything man needed was abundantly available.
Genesis 2:8-9 [AMP]
[8] And the LORD God planted a garden (oasis) in the east, in Eden (delight, land of happiness); and He put the man whom He had formed (created) there.
[9] And [in that garden] the LORD God caused to grow from the ground every tree that is desirable and pleasing to the sight and good (suitable, pleasant) for food; the tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the [experiential] knowledge (recognition) of [the difference between] good and evil.
God’s purpose was for man to be a channel through which He could relate to the physical creation. He gave man charge over all creatures and linked His Spirit to man for feedback and oversight. Man was created to have full control over all creatures.
Genesis 2:15 [AMP]
[15] So the LORD God took the man [He had made] and settled him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
The Bible says God settled man in the garden to cultivate, keep, manage, and control it. If we look back at Genesis 1:28, we are reminded that God gave man dominion over all creatures. God’s idea was to dwell among His creation in the form of man. From the beginning, God wired man with His Spirit to getting man connected to Himself for friendship and divine union.
Genesis 2:7 [AMP]
[7] then the LORD God formed [that is, created the body of] man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being [an individual complete in body and spirit]
Isaiah 54:5 [AMP]
[5] "For your husband is your Maker, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of the whole earth.
The garden was a place for God and man to grow in relationship. God’s intention was to keep man in a secure place where His fellowship with man would have remained strong and consistent until man’s mind was established like God’s. Remember, Adam was created as an adult but needed his mind to be established in God; otherwise, Satan would not have been able to deceive him.
Adam was created to be the link through which God could relate to all creatures. Man was made to have continuous fellowship with God—a fellowship that secures peace and a life free from suffering.
Here Is A Call To Reflect And Respond
- Do you still have fellowship with God today?
- Are you still united with Him as in the beginning?
- Or is God asking you, as He asked Adam, “Where are you?”
- Has God found you in that place of fellowship, or have you been lost since birth?
Listen carefully: God is deeply interested in you. He loves you and wants you to reconnect with Him to live a secure and suffering-free life.
If you are willing today, please pray this prayer from your heart:
Lord Jesus, I come to You today with all my heart. I believe in Your love for me. I confess my sins and vow to follow Satan no more. Please forgive me and be my Lord and personal Savior. From today, I will follow You and obey Your words till my last day on this earth. Thank You for saving me. Amen.
