When you receive Christ into your heart, something powerful happens: God releases His power within you to help you live according to His Word. This power is not just a concept—it is a dynamic force that enables you to overcome challenges, resist temptation, and live victoriously.
John 1:12 (KJV):
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
This verse reveals a profound truth: receiving Jesus is not just about salvation; it is about empowerment. When you believe in His name and welcome Him into your life, you are given the authority and strength to live as God’s child.
Walking in Obedience Activates God’s Power
Walking in obedience to God’s Word is the key that unlocks the full potential of this power. Obedience is not a burden but a pathway that releases God’s ability to work in and through you.
When you align your life with God’s instructions, His power flows unhindered, equipping you to tackle every issue you face. This power is what makes God “come through” for you in times of need.
You cannot have the power of God residing in you and see your circumstances worsen. That would contradict the very nature of God’s power, which is life-giving, restoring, and victorious.
Ephesians 3:20 (KJV):
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
This scripture reminds us that God’s power working in us is limitless and surpasses our greatest expectations. It is not a passive power but an active force that produces results.
The Importance of Exercising Your God-Given Power
Power, by itself, is inactive until it is exercised. Think of it like electricity in a wire—it must be switched on and directed to perform work.
Similarly, the power God has given to you must be recognized and put to work. This happens when you speak God’s Word, declare His promises, and act in faith.
Your mouth is a powerful tool in exercising God’s power. The words you speak carry authority and command situations to obey God’s will.
If you do not exercise this power, it remains dormant, and your life may not reflect the victory God intends for you.
Recognizing the Presence of Jesus in Your Life
If you feel that your life has not changed despite knowing about God’s power, it may be because Jesus Himself is not yet fully invited into your heart.
Jesus is the source of this power. Without Him, the power cannot manifest in your life.
You can invite Jesus now, and His power to conquer every challenge will become available to you.
Prayer to Receive Jesus and His Power
If you have not yet received Jesus or want to renew your commitment, pray this prayer sincerely:
“Lord Jesus, I invite You into my heart. Be my Lord and Savior. Forgive me of all my sins. I believe You died for me so that Your power can reside in me. I reject the works of Satan and choose to follow You forever. Thank You for saving me and releasing Your power in my life. Amen and Amen!”
What to Do After Receiving God’s Power
Receiving Jesus and His power is just the beginning.
To live a victorious life:
Walk daily in obedience to God’s Word. Let His Word guide your decisions and actions.
Speak God’s promises boldly. Use your mouth to declare victory, healing, provision, and peace.
Pray continually. Stay connected to God through prayer, asking for strength and guidance.
Fellowship with other believers. Surround yourself with a community that encourages your spiritual growth.
Study the Bible regularly. Deepen your understanding of God’s Word to strengthen your faith.
